A simple wine tasting notes template

Use the same small set of questions for each wine. Consistency makes it easier to compare bottles without turning the evening into an exam.

Bottle details

Producer and wine name. Vintage. Region and country. Grape variety if known. Date tasted. Price if you want to compare value later.

In the glass

Appearance: colour and depth. Nose: two or three aromas and their intensity. Palate: sweetness, acidity, tannin, body and alcohol. Finish: what stays with you after the sip and for how long.

Your conclusion

What did you like? What would you pair it with? Would you buy it again? Add a score if you find that useful. For blind tasting, label the glass with a number and fill in the bottle details after the reveal.

Keep the words yours

A short note such as ‘fresh, lemony, good with fish’ can be more useful than a page of borrowed terms. You can also keep the bottle and your personal notes together in CellarMemo.
